Fried Cookie Dough

It’s been a long long time since I have visited mine or any others virtual space. I think busy schedule & diet is keeping me away from this. My diet is coming along well & I am so happy to see some improvement in me. I am not sure if this is a long term solution but this diet has definitely made me realise how much of unhealthy food I was having all this while. More than weight loss I would call this as a healthy eating diet for a healthy lifestyle. After seeing improvement in me, my hubby also has joined hands with me & he too has been following this for some time now. I keep cheating every now & then eating cakes & some fried stuffJ. May be in couple of months I will publish my entire diet plan with all meals with recipes.
Well this sweet was made long time ago & I have a lot of sweet childhood memories attached to this sweet. This is a fried cake dough & is available in most of the small tea shops back in South India. We used to buy this almost every day from a small canteen near our school in Madikeri. This tasty sweet has many names & I have known it as cake:) This sweet is very easy to make & can be done under 15 – 20 mins. I made this for my son as he likes crispy stuff to eat.

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup All purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tspn salt
  • Pinch of baking soda
  • 1/4 cup semolina
  • 3 Tbsp melted butter
  • 3 Tbspn water

Direction:
  1. Just mix all of the above to form a soft dough.
  2. Now roll the dough to 1 inch thickness, cut them into any shape & deep fry them in oil for 3 to 5 minutes.

  6. my grandma used to make something like this and it's been long since i've n't had them. looks really tempting... actually speaking, weight lose is all about "intelligent eating" - cut on the sugar, mc donalds and the coffee, and you will automatically see a change!!! my instructor keeps telling me, you are not dieting, you are eating healthy... which is actually a very positive way of taking things. And don't mind about the cheating yeah... u've to cheat atleast once a week to keep yourself from feeling miserable... :)

  8. Its ok to cheat in between trying to be healthy and loose wait. When I was trying to do it, I give myself a break every weekend and treat in something I miss and love. These fried cookies are crispy and much loved. I am so tempted and with the festive season coming up soon, the recipe is a spot on.
