Pork Mince Idlis

I am not a big fan of plain Idlis. I love Sannas which looks like Idli but tastes very different  & nice. I always try to add in some toppings to my Idlis to make them taste better. I made these this morning for breakfast & they were delicious. This is a must try recipe & something very different from the regular breakfast dishes. You can add any topping of your choice,

Pork Mince Masala

Ingredients
300 gms Pork Mince
1 Tbso Ginger Garlic paste
1 chopped tomatoes
1 medium onion chopped
1 Tbsp Chili Powder
1/4 Tsp Turmeric powder
1/2 Tsp Garam Masala
1 Tbsp Oil
1 Tbsp Lemon juice
Salt as per taste

Method:
Pressure cook pork mince (2 whistle is fine). In a Pan add oil fry ginger garlic, onion, tomatoes until they are well cooked. Add in all the masalas & cook for 1 min. Finally add in the cooked pork mince (Drain water)  & cook for about 2 to 3 mins untill well mixed.

Idli Recipe

Ingredients
3 Cups Idli Rice
1/2 cup Urad dal
1/2 Tsp Fenugreek seeds
water as needed
Salt per taste

Method:
Wash and soak rice separately and urad dal + fenugreek seeds for 4 hrs at least. Grind rice seperately untill its smooth. Now grind the Uraddal & fenugreek seeds to a smooth paste. Mix both the batter & set it aside for atleast 6 to 8 hours. If you are living in a cold region than leave it for 10 hrs or until its well risen. Now Por 2 tbsp of batter into the mould or idli plate. Garnish some of the mince meat on top. steam them in a steamer or idli steam vessel for 5 to 8 mins. You can also microwave them.

Note:
  • I always add salt just before making the Idlis.
  • You can add any garnish on top of idlis.
  • You can use chicken mince or even Paneer mince instead of Pork. Or infact anything that you like.

Stewed Pork Ribs in Garlic Sauce

Stewed Pork ribs in Garlic Sauce

This is yet again my own recipe. I tried this for the first time a month ago & I can’t tell you how tasty this is…. Its truly flavourful, soft, juicy, yummy, melt in your mouth dish. Can you believe it, that there is absolutely no masala in this dish! There are very few spices & it’s just slow cooked for 2 hours & that’s all makes it so tasty. This is in fact tastier than the Coorgi Pork that we make often.  I use the ribs to make this dish as it turns out great. If you want you may try with other parts as well, but when you are trying for the first time use ribs. This dish is all time favorite in my house. I have already served this to one of my friends who had come home for dinner & they just loved this. This is how I made this.

Ingredients:
1 Kg Pork Ribs cut into medium piece
3 cups water
3 Tbsp. Dark Soya Sauce
1 Tbsp. Sweet Soya Sauce
1 Inch Ginger chopped
3 Cloves of Garlic
1 Star Anize
1 Inch Cinnamon
Salt as per taste
Garnish: 1 Tsp Oil , 3 Green Chili & 2 Tbsp Garlic thinly chopped for final garnish

Method:
In a heavy bottom Pan or Kadai put all the above ingredients except the garnish items. Slow cook this on low flame for at least 1- 1.5 hours or 2 hours. Till the water reduces and becomes thick, the meat is soft and well cooked. Now in a Pan add oil fry garlic for ½ a minute & add in the stewed Pork and stir-fry for 2 minutes. Now the Pork is done.

Chili Pork with Pan Roasted Potatoes

Pork wasn't my favourite dish but after coming to Singapore, I realised that people here love to eat Pork. Very good pork is available in the markets & stores. You can select lean meat or any pieces you want here unlike in India. After making few Pork dishes, I have developed interest in Pork. The meat here is very tender & cooks really fast. I find it very juicy & tasty too. In Mangalore chili pork is very famous & you will find this in  almost all chatholic wedding. This one is a very quick & easy one.

'Serves: 4
Cooking time: 30- 45 mins

  • 1/2 kg Boneless Pork cut into think small pieces (cook it in a pan separately for about 10 mins with 1 tbspn of oil and water if required only)
  • 1 medium onion cut into layers
  • 1 medium Capsicum diced into cubes
  • 2 red chili chopped
  • 1 tbspn dark soya sauce
  • 1/2 tspn sweet soya sauce
  • 1/2 tspn black pepper powder
  • 1/2 tspn Chili powder
  • 1 tbspn lemon juice
  • 1 inch ginger chopped
  • 6 garlic pods chopped
  • 1 tbspn Oil
  • Salt as per taste
Direction:

  1. In a Pan add oil fry garlic, ginger, onion until translucent.
  2. Add all the sauces, masalas & saute for a minute.
  3. Now add cooked Pork to this and saute for 5 to 6 minutes. At last add in the capsicum, green/red chili and close the pan with a tight lid cook for 2 mins and turn off the gas. Yummy Pork is ready to serve.
