Masala Calamari Rings

Masala Calamari Rings
Calamari or squids are quite famous in Goa & Mangalore. These are also called as baby octopus too. Sounds really gorse right? Yaaks.. eeks! That’s what I feel when I think of octopus. They look so scary & ugly. But these squids are small & they look slimy cute… hahahah that’s too much of an explanation I guess.  Well squids are tasteless & they don’t have a fishy smell . But you need to clean it really well, if not your stomach is going to go bad. They have one plastic bone inside which needs to be removed & a lot of black smelly stuff. So while cleaning you need to really get your hands dirty. I don’t eat the tentacles, if you do….add them.
Lets get cooking….

Ingredients:
5 medium sizes Calamari cut into rings
1 Tbsp. Chili Powder
¼ Tsp Turmeric Powder
 ¼ Tsp Cumin powder
2 Tbsp Corn Flour
2 Tbsp Maida/ All-purpose flour
1 Tbsp Lime juice
Oil for frying
Salt as per taste

Method: Make a thick paste using the above ingredients & marinate the calamari rings in this for at least 1 hour. Now heat oil in a Pan & deep fry them for 3 to 4 minutes. They don’t take very long to cook.
This is a very good Appetizer & can be made really fast.
